AVG Security Status Icons. What Do They Mean?
AVG security software uses different types of icons to indicate its current protection status.
If the status icon changes it usually means that a problem with your protection has occurred and you are asked to look into it, because AVG couldn't resolve the issue in the automated way.
AVG shows its status icon in the Windows system tray. During normal work AVG icon appears without any signs, but when a problem occurs an exclamation mark will appear alongside the icon.
An exclamation mark could indicate a serious security problem, a problem with your AVG installation or a less severe problem such as failed download of the update. Every time an exclamation mark is displayed, you should take steps to investigate the issue by double-clicking the tray icon. AVG will then guide you through the resolution process and will keep notifying you until the issue has been solved.
Other security status icons AVG can display:
- The tiny triangle indicating a scan in progress
- The "pause sign" indicating a scan in progress which has been paused
- The "no entry road sign" indicating a blocked threat
