What is a computer worm?

Computer worm is form of malicious software that replicates itself across disks and computers but their intention is not to infect system or installed applications.

There are also computer worms that do not physically copy themselves to other disks or computers, but they simply reproduce in a PC's memory causing their slowdown or rendering them unresponsive.
