What is mobile phone / cell phone virus?

Mobile phone virus (also: cell phone virus) is a software virus designed for advanced mobile phones, so called smart-phones, that run advanced operating systems such as Symbian Series 60, Windows Mobile or Google Android.

Some mobile phone viruses can be dangerous. They can for example delete all data stored in a phone, including contacts from your contact book.

You can protect your mobile from such viruses with specialized software installed directly onto your cellphone. Symantec has developed an anti-virus security suite, designed for mobile phones called Norton Smartphone Security that protects your cell phone from viruses and spam.
