What is ActiveX
ActiveX is an object-oriented programming language invented and distributed by Microsoft, that allows programmers to create stand-alone programs, that can run on both Windows and Mac machines.
These programs can be run from e.g. a Web browser when you visit a site using ActiveX controls. ActiveX controls contribute to greater functionality of a website delivering interactive content, dynamic pages or other code that you can run (for example Web-based virus scanners).
At the moment of this writing, ActiveX controls can run in Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/Vista and Macintosh environments.
